This past week Michelle on Bell was nominated for the Liebster award by the amazing Geekdom Mom. Thank you, thank you!!!
As part of the award rules I have to answer the 11 questions Georgia from Geekdom Mom asked. We were fortunate enough to be nominated for the Liebster award last year as well, and my sister Michelle answered the questions, so this year its up to me.
1.Where did you grow up and do you still live there?
I grew up in Mexico City, and I don’t live there anymore. Right after graduating high school I came to college in Washington DC. I don’t know when, but I do plan on moving back though, I miss the food!
2. What do you miss most about childhood?
My dogs. At one point we had two Golden Retrievers and it was the absolute best. No college student can be responsible for any living thing other than themselves, so unfortunately I don’t have a dog now. As soon as I graduate and settle down a little bit I’m getting one, a Newfoundland to be precise. I’m really excited.
3. If you could have a cocktail or dinner with 1 person (alive or dead) who would they be?
Dr. Seuss. I have a strange fascination with him. I love his writing style and his lessons always resonated with me. Few people know that he was turned away by 27 different publishers until he was picked up. I really admire that dedication and his belief that his work was good enough to be published. He was a true industry disruptor and I want to know where he got his inspiration and courage to go though with what he accomplished.
4. What’s your biggest goal/dream for yourself to date?
I really want to visit every country in the world and try their food! I realize this is a little much, but I love exploring new places and getting to know new cultures. Hopefully throughout my life I’ll be able to continue to travel the world and post my favorite meals on Michelle on Bell!
5. Your absolute favorite book or series that you can’t live without and why?
This is a really hard question because I am a complete book worm. I think this answer is always changing, but at the moment my favorite book is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. That book made me think of things in an entirely new light, and greatly appreciate it because of that.
6. What do you hope to be most remembered for?
I want to be remembered for being kind hearted and caring. I value these personal traits greatly and I hope to inspire them in other people.
7. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I have absolutely no idea. Fortunately I think I’m still at an age (22) were that is ok. I know I want to have a good career with something related to social entrepreneurship and food, but I still don’t know exactly what that is going to look like. I’ll keep you posted though.
8. A question from my kids: Who’s your favorite superhero and how do you imitate them in real life?
Hands down Iron Man. He always seems to be able to find an innovative solution or an answer to whatever problem he faces so I try to channel that attitude in my life.
9. If you were given only $500 dollars and were forced to spend it only on yourself, what would you buy?
I think I would take a trip. A road trip probably somewhere in the east coast with my friends. I’ve heard that Maine is incredible, we could eat some lobster, explore a new town… This sounds like fun, I’m going to start planning.
10. How did you feel when you first set out on your own adventure in entrepreneurship or blogging?
I was really nervous to be honest. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to transmit what I wanted to in my writing. Fortunately as time has gone by, I have gotten more confident that people what to hear what I have to say and now I am always super excited to share the joy that eating gives me.
11. Your favorite place in the entire world to be?
This is a really hard question for me to answer. I love exploring new places and I feel like my answer is always changing. For now I think I would have to say Tokyo. My family and I visited Japan this past winter and I fell in love with the way Japanese culture meets the modern world. I can’t wait to go back and continue exploring this amazing city.
